Duruflé’s Requiem

On Good Friday, the St Peter’s Church Choir sang the Requiem and Notre Père by Maurice Duruflé, Cantique de Jean Racine by Gabriel Fauré, and Panis Angelicus by César Franck.  The performance was well received by the goodly number of people who attended.

The Director of Music, Rupert Forbes conducted with authority, the church organist, Sheila Chisholm, gave an excellent performance at the console, and Christine Bethune was a fine mezzo-soprano soloist.  The choir thanks all those who came to support this performance.

A retiring collection was held to assist former head chorister, Bethany Sikes, in her fundraising to go to Banfladesh this coming summer.   Bethany intends to spend 10 weeks there working on an international development project supported through the International Citizen Service (ICS) programme.  £353.16 was raised (exclusive of Gift Aid).  Bethany sends a big thank you to all.
