Good Friday: Friday 6th April: 7.30pm: Concert

Choir of St Peter’s, Rupert Forbes: Conductor, Sheila Robertson: Organ

‘The Seven Last Words of Christ’: Théodore Dubois

On Good Friday, the St Peter’s Choir are performing Dubois’ Sacred Cantata ‘The Seven Last Words of Christ’. Possibly best known for his organ works, Dubois composed this in 1867. Surprisingly, it is not well known and is rarely performed in Britain. Reflecting on the final utterances of Jesus on the cross, the music is bursting with beautiful harmonies, and uses the organ to the full. The concert will last approximately one hour, and a retiring collection will be taken for the Organ Fund.

Organ Recital: Sunday 19th August 2012: 9pm – 10pm: David Hamilton, Glasgow: Director of Music at St Mary’s Episcopal Church, Hamilton, and Organist of Strathclyde University.

The young ones (and adults) heard all about the parable of Moses, then went on to create scenes from the parable in modelling clay, and all shared a buffet afterwards. Whilst the children played on the adults took time out to think about and discuss their experiences at church and suggest areas where we can improve.
