Please come and join us to discuss the history and relevance of Nicea, a uniquely enduring statement of Christian faith.
Seminar
We regularly say the Nicene Creed in our worship, but where does it come from and why does it matter today? The Council of Nicea took place in 325AD, almost 1700 years ago, and dealt with one of the biggest threats to Christianity. The Nicea’s solution is still crucially important to our faith.
Chair Rev Nick Wills
Speakers
Nicea and the role of Constantine: Janet Sidaway (PhD, King’s College London)
The Da Vinci Code and the Biblical Canon at Nicea: Jacob W. Peterson (PhD, New College, University of Edinburgh)
We need creeds: Nicea for today: The Rt. Rev Donald Allister, retired Bishop of Peterborough
Janet, Jacob and Donald have each studied Nicea from different perspectives.
This should be a fascinating and faith-strengthening afternoon.
