Ann Thanisch will describe Edinburgh Direct Aid’s work for Syrian refugees since 2013 in the exceptionally harsh conditions of Arsal, Lebanon – providing supplies donated by the UK public, school education, vocational training, workshops, health classes & a gym. There will be a particular focus on current priorities – the impact of the bad weather in early 2019, and a day centre for refugee children with special needs, which Ann visited last year. It has just launched an urgent appeal for funds to help refugees with inadequate shelter in severe winter storms in north Lebanon.
