First Aid Training

Would you know what to do if someone had a medical emergency or required first aid?

St Peter’s Church and retired GP Dr Janice Allister FRCGP (NUCO certified First Aid Instructor) are offering free first aid training to local churches and charities. Using the Nuco training which is independently assessed and regulated by Ofqual, Janice can train and certificate people up to the First Aid at Work SCQF Level 6 standards.

More dates for First Aid Training in 2025 will be available in due course.

Sessions are usually held on a Saturday, 9am-12 noon.

The two sessions cover:

  1. Resuscitation (including cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, defibrillation, and treatment for anaphylactic shock and for choking)
  2. Basic First Aid (bleeds, breaks, burns, falls and faints) This is hands-on training, with enough theory, but focussing on practical skills.
  • All sessions will be practical and hands-on.
  • All equipment is provided, but participants must be able to kneel on a floor for a period of time.
  • Wear clothing suitable for kneeling on the floor.
  • Session are all standalone: participants are welcome to book for all advertised sessions, or just one.
  • There will be a short break mid-session: please bring your own refreshments.
  • Sessions are usually held in the Choir Vestry.
  • All sessions are free.

All certificates issued are valid for three years.
